Baresi & Caine

Baresi & Caine’s elegant timepieces are statements of masterful Swiss watchmaking, timeless Italian artistry and enduring British design

Time is relative, but a luxury watch has an allure that lasts forever. This is something Caine Ward discovered at an early age through his grandfather. A keen watch collector, he would show Caine his favourite pieces, even opening the backs so his grandson could marvel at the movement within.

Caine originally carved out a successful career as a professional guitarist but eventually decided to pour his creativity into a new enterprise, designing the kind of classic watches he had admired since childhood, made with the same exceptional craftsmanship.

A trip to Rome, the city’s elegant architecture and the flowing lines of marble sculptures sparked Caine’s imagination for the design of his watches. Recognising Caine’s vision, a sculptor, Signor Baresi, carved an astonishing marble dial and gave his name to the new company, Baresi & Caine. Caine enlisted an automotive designer to lead the watch designs, with manufacturing overseen in Switzerland by master horologist Thierry Baume and his team of expert craftspeople.

Baresi & Caine watches feature a wide variety of marbles, as well as onyx and even meteorites. “All the materials we use are of the highest possible quality, with lots of precious metals,” says Caine. To enhance both aesthetics and performance, the brand developed its own in-house movement that is “100 per cent Swiss made”, featuring components crafted in 18-carat gold.

Unique touches include a crown with a specially manufactured screw that houses a one-carat diamond – a world first – and diamond-studded screws on the bezel. Each diamond emits a subtle light in the darkness, earning the first timepiece the name Stella Luce (“Starlight”). Also in the brand’s growing collection are the Stella, Lady Luce, Sportivo and Sportivo Lusso, with finishes in platinum, gold, rose gold and stainless steel. “With each new collection, we push the boundaries of innovation,” says Caine, “offering watches that are as technically superior as they are aesthetically captivating.”

Baresi & Caine earned its way onto the wrists of celebrities and cultural icons, becoming synonymous with style and sophistication. High-profile commissions include pieces for Yashin Trophy and Golden Glove winner Emiliano Martínez, rising boxing star Conor Benn and his father, legendary boxer Nigel Benn. The striking designs and originality of Baresi & Caine also caught the attention of former superbike champion and watch enthusiast Roger Burnett. “The moment I saw my first Baresi & Caine watch I felt a sense of instant attraction; the beauty of the case and styling blew me away and I just had to have one.” He reached out to his former team at Honda, who commissioned 60 limited-edition watches to commemorate the brand’s iconic RC164 motorcycle. Other admirers include David Brabham, son of racing legend Sir Jack Brabham, and his wife Lisa Brabham, who commissioned 35 watches, one for each of the Brabham team’s Formula One victories. Fourteen of these wins were achieved by his father in a car he designed, built and raced himself, a feat unmatched in Formula One history. To this day, Sir Jack Brabham remains the only driver to win a Grand Prix and a world championship in a car of his own construction.

Caine hopes to open a flagship store in Mayfair, London; and with the launch of the Aquila Tourbillon at the 2025 Salon Privé at Blenheim Palace, the brand continues to set the standard for British-designed, Swiss-made timepieces. “With each passing day, Baresi & Caine’s presence is felt ever more profoundly on the global stage.”
